Who can be a Mason at St Cloud Masonic Lodge
Who can be a Mason at St Cloud Masonic Lodge – Freemasonry welcomes men of every country, religion, race, age, income, education, and opinion. However, to join Freemasonry, one must meet the following qualifications:
- Be desirous of earning knowledge and willing to conform to the ancient usages and customs of the fraternity
- Be a male at least 18 years of age (the minimum age varies in some jurisdictions, sometimes up to 21)
- Believe in the existence of a Supreme Being, although Freemasonry is not concerned with theological distinctions or particular religious beliefs
- Be of good moral character
- Be motivated to join for reasons unrelated to personal gain or profit
- Your decision to apply is based on your own “free will and accord”
- Be prompted by a favorable opinion of Freemasonry

From the outside, a Masonic lodge can look rather mundane. But inside the lodge room itself, Freemasonry comes to life, often with age-old artifacts, art, and the pageantry of our sacred ritual. More than anything, when Masons gather in the lodge, it’s a reaffirmation of our Masonic values of brotherly love, relief, and truth.
A unique aspect of lodge life is the coming together of generations and differing backgrounds. To become a Mason, one only needs to be a man of good character and to believe in a God, whatever form that may take for each individual. What binds Freemasons together is our obligation to each other to become the best possible versions of ourselves.
With this bond as common ground, strong, lifelong friendships form naturally between men of different generations, religions, races, economic backgrounds, or political beliefs. Ask any Mason, and he’s sure to tell you that through the lodge, he has become Brothers with men whom he may otherwise never have crossed paths with in everyday life. This is one of the fundamental constancies of life as a Freemason.
Beyond the symbolic lodge, there are a number of additional Masonic-affiliated organizations.
The three most well-known appendant bodies are:
- Shriners International
- 32º Scottish Rite Freemasonry
- York Rite
Each of these appendant bodies hold as its membership prerequisite that a man remain a Master Mason in good standing.
